Chromebooks Helping To Improve My Reading - By Jack

Brett Morell —

One of the programmes we use during reading time in the Kererū team is a website called Read Theory.

Read Theory is a site that helps to improve your reading skills by having us work through a series of different reading task, all of which have comprehension questions that need to be answered.  The programme is also adaptable which means I do a test at the start and I get a set reading level, the more I get correct the harder the work is and vice versa.

The way to use this website is you get a paragraph of a story and you get asked between 3 to 10 questions related to the paragraph.  Also you have to get as many questions correct based on the story you are given. Then at the end you will be given a score and you get some things called KP (knowledge point).  If you get them all right you will get around 25 KP, but if you don't do so well you will get around 2 which isn’t good.  So the aim is to get as many KP as you can.  In about a week if you're doing good you will have around 1000 KP which is really good!  So Read Theory is a really good site that helps increase your reading skills.  Another really cool thing about this programme is that the teachers get to keep track of our progress and can see how many points and what level we are on.
