Kōtuku's date with EPro8

Josh Knight —

The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 25,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part.

EPro8 is designed to promote science, engineering, problem solving and working in a group.

Over the past week students from Kōtuku had the chance to partake in a basic Epro8 starter challenge. They began by following a set of instructions from a YouTube video in an attempt to build a cube. In doing this they became familiar with how the pieces worked and functioned. Some other things that can be built with EPro8 kits are a Fire Engine, Burglar Alarm and a Robotic Guard Dog.

In Week 7, we will have an inter-Kōtuku challenge where we will have more EPro8 kits and the students will be able to flex their creativity. From there a select few will be given the opportunity to represent Parkview Pārua and compete with other schools from around Christchurch, to see who can create a master piece the fastest and with the highest level of creativity and engineering.
