School Sports

Parkview School —

Our school sports programme caters for all children from Year 0/1 to Year 8.

School Sports are usually held in the afternoons and they are organised on a flexible basis. We have regular sports events where our wonderful Senior students work alongside our Juniors to compete in different activities.

Sports Events Available to our Senior Students (Years 5-8):

Weekly Winter Sport competitions held at Hagley include rugby, soccer, netball and hockey. We compete in the East Zone sports competitions with other schools in our area and our Hagley teams compete against other Christchurch schools.

The Major Zone Sports Involved Are:

Term 1: Swimming
Term 2: Cross Country
Term 3: Winter Tournament
Term 4: Athletics

Prior to each Zone event we hold our own school swimming, cross country and athletics competitions to find out who will represent us at the Zones. Successful athletes at the Zone events go on to represent East Zone schools at Canterbury Primary School Sports competitions.

We also enter our students in Primary Sport Canterbury events such as triathlon, aerobics, hip hop, gymnastics and others.

Other Zone events that Parkview Pārua students can participate in are Top Team and basketball. Outside of school hours, teams representing Parkview Pārua also compete in the RCSI touch module and basketball at Cowles Stadium. If students show strengths in other sporting areas not included here, we can investigate means of developing their skills and competitions.

We are always looking for motivated Parents/Whānau to assist with our sports programme. If you are interested please contact the school.
