The Piwakawaka team went for their lesson with the Health and Safety worker from the Christchurch City Council.

This week the whole school has attended the programme ‘Stans got a Plan’.  The programme helps us learn about what to do in an emergency.  It also talks about how to keep ourselves and others around us safe. 

Piwakawaka, like all the other teams, went through a range of activities about disasters both natural and not, and how to stay safe in emergencies. 

They were taught about how man-made disasters were created, how to avoid getting sick if in need of evacuation, and many more!

The classes were shown a survival bag, and what it contained, such as food that would not go off for a long time, and what sort of clothing and toys (if there are children) that would be best to pack.
