Olympic Ambassodor - Courtney McGregor
She talked about her journey, successes, work ons and challenges. She was interactive, gave out prizes for answering questions and showed and shared the students' multiple performance videos.
McGregor started gymnastics at age six. Her first international competitions were the 2012 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships in Everett, Washington, and the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney.
She competed at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China, and also won a bronze medal in the vault at the 2016 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships.
At 17, McGregor was New Zealand's youngest Olympic competitor in 2016. She finished 41st in the all-around in qualifications, with a best placing of 13th on vault.
The students asked some fantastic questions at the end! What was your worst injury, what made you want to become a gymnast, what did you want to be when you were younger, how many hours were you training a week, what inspired you to go to the Olympics?
Thank you so much Courtney for taking time out of your day to come and speak to us! All the best for your further studies in medicine!
