Rakahuri and Waikuku Pānui

Top team: Last Friday the ākonga took part in "Top Team". The children participated in a number of fun challenges and the day was an absolute hit! A massive thank you to Mrs Jen Loffhagen, our Sports Curriculum Leader, for her organisation of the day. Jacob, Archie, Adalyn, Sarah, Maggie and Noah were spotted showing their school values and were awarded certificates. Congratulations!
Kaupapa: The children have been learning about what a Pepeha is and have started to write their own. If your whānau has their own whakapapa that they would like to share, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher. Once these are complete, the children will bring them home to learn!
Buddy Time: The ākonga very much enjoyed meeting their big buddies and are excited to know that there is another buddy catch up this week. The children will be working on a digital art project together.
Homeroom time: The kaiako have now set up circle time and created a safe/fun space for the akōnga to share. Over the rest of the term the children will be looking at the "Zones of Regulation". This is an approach that is used to support the development of self-regulation in children. The different ways the ākonga feel are captured in four colour zones and the children will be shown how to regulate in the appropriate zone at the appropriate time.
Lost property: The team already have a record amount of lost property in the form of new fleeces, shoes, socks, various lunch boxes and more socks. A lot of these items are unnamed so please ensure you always name your child’s items so we can safely return them. Should an item go missing, both Rakahuri and Waikuku have lost property boxes for you to come and check. If someone else's item does turn at your house please return it to these boxes. Thank you so much for your help with this issue.
Newsletter Art: With the ALS digital focus being digi art responses to reading, we have been spoilt for choice this week! This digi art has been drawn by Freya and it shows a scene from the book she has been reading. What amazing detail, layout and colour the drawing has!
Union Meeting: Please note that teachers will be attending a union meeting on Friday. Parents are asked to collect their children at lunchtime if possible. Thank you for your help with this.
Term 1 Reminders:
Library Day: Library Day is Friday so please remember your books!
