Week 8 in Peka Peka

Sally Patterson —

Welcome to our new weekly Newsletter format!

What a busy week we have had in Peka peka! We want to give a warm welcome to Olivia Drake who started on Thursday! We have seen lots of tuakana putting their hand up to support her in her transition to our Kura -so great to see beautiful Whanaungatanga on show in our ALS!

The tamariki have been working really hard in our Literacy and Maths groups, demonstrating how they are learning to understand the learning process and what is required to have success! In Maths we are all learning early addition using groupings within 5 and 10, really cementing their understanding of numbers and their value.

The Bug Hotel which is Whaea Amanda's wee project is beginning to take shape, and we have seen some beautiful toanga (treasure) brought in from our local area... but we still need more! So please keep going on adventures with whānau to collect these. We would love some river stones to represent our local river Rakahuri, Pinecones to represent our surrounding forests, and Sand from our Waikuku and Pegasus Beaches.

At the end of next week we farewell Mack Bavis who is leaving Pegasus Bay with his family as they have moved! We wish them luck on their journey of change, we will miss Mack's deep thinking, personality, and warm smile!
