Simon Crawford —

Back in December of last year, we had the ambitious idea of turning the picnic tables around kura into artwork representing our school values and learning dispositions.

Our ākonga were tasked with coming up with the initial ideas during 'transition day' last year and recently within their colour groups refined these ideas into their final designs. Whilst the mock ups have been completed by our resident artists Jen and Sarah, they are straight copies of the final designs submitted by our ākonga.

The paint has been ordered and these stunning art pieces will be a feature around kura for years to come. Our ākonga will be painting these hopefully before the end of term.

This week's design represents the Creator learning disposition.

Wiki Tuawhitu: Ākonga this week will be refining their subtraction strategies with renaming, constructing their paragraphs about the events of Feb 6th 1840, writing their mihimihi mixed with some IT skills and developing their reading comprehension through some exciting research projects and thinkers keys.

Quick notes:

Mane: is Library Day. Please bring back any overdue pukapuka.

Wenerei: is Subway lunch day. You can order this through your school account.

Tāiti: is Kaiako Strike Day. Please look out for additional information regarding this in the coming days.

Paraire: is our Sausage Sizzle Day. You can order this through your school account.

Pōtae: School sun hats are compulsory in Term 1, even when it is cloudy.

Have a great weekend,

Ngā mihi nui

Simon, Jen, Dan, Leanne, Ruth and Sarah
