Narrated by Stan Walker - this NZ-produced digital storybook is about online safety

Jared Kelly —

A great storybook-style tale about staying safe online - suitable for primary school-aged children - and really topical for these lockdown days when we are all online a little bit more than usual...

Being a parent or caregiver in the digital age can be challenging. The internet is a great place to connect with family and friends, learn, play games, and watch videos and TV programmes. But it can also have downsides for our tamariki, rangatahi and young people. The Inter-Yeti is a digital storybook that has been created as a safe, positive and fun space for your children to learn about staying safe online. It covers topics such as online bullying, inappropriate and upsetting content, online grooming and sharing of private or personal information. It is suitable for children aged 5-11.

As a parent or caregiver you can help your child staying safe by simply talking about these issues. Reading the Inter-Yeti together is a great way to start the conversation.

You can find further support with these conversations here: The New Zealand Government's 'Keep it Real Online' website.
