Week 2 for the Juniors

Lisa Hewitt —

The term has started at full speed.

Week 1 certainly started as the rest of the term looks likely to be. We all enjoyed our time learning about space. Ann-Marie from the International Antarctic Centre made our sessions fun and interactive. The tamariki got to wear space suits and learnt facts about the 8 planets in our solar system. I hope that your tamaiti took some pleasure in sharing their rocket and launcher with you at home. These sessions were backed up with some visual art that is being completed and will displayed in the ALS over the next week or so.

Week 2 will be a bit more settled with our normal routines in place, starting Tuesday of course!

Beach Education Day (Rakahuri Monday 6th December, Waikuku Tuesday 7th December)

Emily has sent out a Google form requesting parent help and transport to the beach for our Beach Education days in week 8. Please complete and return ASAP so we can ensure that we have enough help to make these awesome days successful. We are aware that some people are having problems completing the form. This may due to the device you are using. If you don't have another device to try it on please feel free to email your tamaiti homeroom teacher.

YEAR 3 Camp

We will be sending home a kit list on Friday to give you a bit of time to gather together everything that will be needed for camp. If you have any fundraising money that has been collected please take that to the office as soon as possible.

We have a white envelope with some knowledgeathon money inside with no name on it - if this was for your tamaiti can you please let us know.

Nits

Unfortunately these little nasties are still around. Please check your child's head and treat if necessary. It is strongly recommended that long hair is tried up to help prevent the spreading of nits.

School photos - Thursday and Friday

Best hair and tidy uniform will be needed as Individual school photos and homeroom photos will be taken on Thursday and Friday next week. Most photos will be taken on Thursday however Whāea Lisa's homeroom photo will definitely been taken on Friday (due to Lisa being on a course on Thursday).

In other news...

Whāea Lisa is, unfortunately, due to have a medical procedure on 4th November and the recovery period means that she will likely be away from kura for the rest of the term. A wonderful replacement is being worked out and the disruption to the tamariki will be kept as minimal as possible. Lisa is feeling especially disappointed about not being able to go on camp, as she had been looking forward to having this wonderful experience with the tamariki, some of whom she has been teaching for the last 3 years.

Reminders

Hats are needed every day.

Sun screen is best applied in the mornings before school with top up product available in ALS.

No hot food this term.

Thank you for observing the mask rule if you have had to come and visit our ALS.
