Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback via our parent survey.

Jared Kelly —

We really appreciate it, and here is a summary of what you shared...

93% of children are happy to come to school each day.

90% of you are happy with the interactions between staff and your child(ren).

80% of you are happy with the interactions between staff and you.

83% of you are happy with the newsletter format and the information we share.

We are collating the themes that emerged and will be looking at how we can use this feedback to continue to improve how we do things.

Communication has been a challenge for us this year, due to the limitations Covid has placed on us all.  This is shown in the survey with 20% of parents not being happy with the communication between staff and school.

We sincerely hope that next year will bring more freedom and that we can reconnect again at whānau hui, meet-the-teacher and other school events.  In the meantime, we will be discussing, as a staff, expectations around responding to your emails.

The survey results also highlighted the fact that many of you do not have the Phone App - which gives you quick easy access to our newsletters, alerts and other information.  We really recommend you download and use the App as your main method of keeping up with school information.  Details on how to find it and how to download it are here - and it's really easy to install.

You don't need to sign in to Hero to read the newsletter - though we will still continue sharing it via Hero as well, for those who prefer that.  We share the newsletter every Friday via:

  • The School Phone app (as an alert with a link that takes you directly to the newsletter with no need to sign in)
  • Our school Facebook page (a closed group for current parents of our school only)
  • On the blog on the home page of our website (no signing in or passwords required)
  • Hero (as a link within a Hero alert).

Hero is our student management system, and it's where you can find reporting information and your account information as well as emails specific to your child's ALS.  As we've shared previously, this year our Board asked us to move to a new reporting structure, and the reporting function has been turned off while that work was happening.  The reporting function is back on from today - in preparation for parent interviews next week.  We are looking forward to hearing your feedback on this new way of reporting.

Thank you once again for your feedback - we do appreciate it and we do use it to shape the way we do things.
