Te kōhaka
This week has been full of experiences for some of our tamariki. We have had Keisha, Abi and Leila represented our school at the Aims Games in Tauranga. They have been full on with playing Netball all week, and we are sure you will enjoy a nice relaxing weekend. Thursday saw many of our students join the Pegasus Bay Ski Trip. From the photos it looked like you had an awesome time upon the mountain. We also had our tamariki in Kapa Haka practising for the Kapa Haka Festival.
This week, tamariki have focused on researching and summarising key information into their own words for their information reports and visual language. These are expectations for their inquiries into their chosen intrepid adventurer.
We continue with our unit of Algebra in mathematics, we have so enjoyed our tamariki realising that they actually quite like algebra and that it is fun. Next week we start our unit of area and perimeter.
Tamariki have started their restaurant proposals in their groups, we have some very exciting and creative menus and restaurant names and we are super excited to have these presented this afternoon. This will determine which three restaurants will be opening for business on Wednesday of week 10, 28th September.
Invitations for whānau will be sent next week. It will be ‘first in, first served’ (excuse the pun) as there are limited seats. We invite you to pay for what you think your 3 course meal is worth, and any profits from this day will go to a charity of the restaurants choice.
Reminders:
KHS Coffee and Cake: This is Tuesday 13th September starting at 7pm. This is a great opportunity for you to meet the newly appointed principal and to ask any questions you may have about your child’s transition to High School.
Lego Day: This is next Friday 16th September, tickets are $5 and can be paid at the office before next Wednesday.
School hats: Term 4 is quickly approaching and that means school hats are to be worn. We are putting out the reminder now, in case you need to purchase a hat for your child. If your child does not have a hat, they will have to sit in the shade.
Sausages: This is a year 8 fundraiser that is helps cover costs towards the year 8 leavers dinner, year book, and year 8 shirts. We were a little upset to find no year 8’s supported this fundraiser this week.
Have a great weekend,
Ngā mahi nui,
Ali and Anna
