Encourage your child to read at least 5 books and they go in the draw to win prizes for their ALS and for themselves.

This week we launched the Winter Reading Challenge. The Waimakariri libraries have launched this for adults at the public libraries and we thought we could do this here for our tamariki as well.
It will run from now until the 31st of August and the challenge is for kids to read 5 books over this time, they can read more if they like! Once the 5 books are completed they go into a draw to win a set of Scholastic books for their classroom and a prize for themselves.
When a book is finished they come to me during morning tea or lunch time and I will complete a form to mark it off. I am not going to be too particular about the type of books read, getting books into hands is the main objective.
It's completely optional, however please encourage your child to participate. Would love some feedback as to what prizes would motivate your classes to read - Rose tells me chocolate and she may be right!
