An Amazing Week of Learning!

Sally Patterson —

Wow, week 1 flew by! It was fabulous to reconnect with our tamariki and you, their whānau, and get straight into some exciting learning!

A big warm welcome to our new tamariki who have started with us this term in Mr P's homeroom - Max (Maddox), Kelsea, James and Darcy.  It has been absolutely amazing having Mr P join the team and we can't wait to use the skills he brings with him (especially in regards to our mini Olympics, more details below).

With the new groupings for Maths, we are seeing great engagement from our tamariki and a burning desire to share our knowledge with each other! During Literacy we have seen great retention of knowledge over the holidays which has allowed us to carry on from where we left off with most of the groups learning about how to write simple sentences, and blending with fluency when reading.

The ball skills we have been learning in P.E. has been stimulating and exciting. This has been reflected during Discovery Learning and lunchtime, where tamariki have been eagerly practicing these new skills.  We are planning on showcasing these new skills by holding a mini Olympics, homeroom vs homeroom in week 5, more details to follow!

For Inquiry, we have started an exciting wall display, which reflects the learning journey we are navigating as a team as we dive into Health and Sexuality Education at a New Entrance level. Here we will be learning about understanding and respecting each other, and where we come from; how we can be the best we can be as a learner, a friend and as a team mate; and how to keep ourselves safe. Please pop in if you have any queries or questions around what is being taught on our learning journey!

A friendly reminder that our ALS (active learning space) is where learning occurs, we ask that if tamariki are not engaging with the table tasks in the morning that they play outside.

We are so excited for another amazing term!

Arohanui,
