ESOL students - Staff
The time has come for the ELLP rubrics to be filled out. I will be handing them out at the beginning of next week.
Our ESOL programme has changed which means our ESOL students will have Literacy plans based on their goals in the ELLP. It is very important these are filled out accurately. Please have a look at the slides to guide your judgements for these rubrics - particularly the video on BICS and CALPS> I cannot emphasise enough that just because a child is seen to communicate well with peers and teachers in a classroom setting, it doesn't mean they have achieved everything on the Speaking section of the rubric.
If you look on the ESOL website you will see that it is very common for ESOL students to still be working on the rubric at Year 8.
