NToM and Taerutu - Wiki Waru

Simon Crawford —

Kia ora whānau, and welcome to Week Eight of the term.

What a crazy old week, with snow settling, plenty of sunshine and the discovery on new life forms in our Space Adventure writing.

Wiki Waru Learning: Mrs L is back this week after an exciting trip away at the AIMS Games. Tamariki this week will be moving onto the 'survival' aspect of their writing adventure, as their emergency rations are now depleted and the ships heating system has broken. Finding sources of food, water and warm shelter will now be needed to survive long term. Our maths focus turns to graphing (Yr 4's) and currency (Yr 5's), prototype building of our future transportation ideas is in full swing, as well as our Wearable Arts.

Camp Helpers: Thank you so much for your responses. Across the two camps we have received over 35 offers of support as Parent Helpers. Again whilst we would love to accept everyone's offer, the realities of cost and space does mean we are limited. Those successful will be notified next week so that we can get the Police vetting process underway. Closer to camp time, we will be able to share who is supporting our camp with all our whānau.

We thank you for your support with this.

Books and Stationary: We have a number of tamariki nearing the end of their literacy or maths books, as well as many still having no pen/pencil to work with. We would really appreciate if you could check in with your tamaiti over the weekend to see if they need a resupply of resources.

Athletics: We are literally jumping into our athletics training this week as we prepare for school athletics day in the first week back of term. If you can please remind your tamaiti to have appropriate sport shoes on each Tūrei (Tuesday) and Tāiti (Thursday), that would be wananei! (awesome).

Library: Both space will now be visiting the library to exchange pukapuka on Mane (Monday). This is a slight change for Taerutu tamariki.

Lego Day: Is next Friday! For $5 your tamaiti can play with thousands of pieces of LEGO for the morning. Get your tickets from the office by Wednesday!

Have a wonderful weekend whānau,

Ngā mihi nui
