Matariki Celebration next Thursday!

Sonya Faisst, Te Ao Māori Leader —

We hope you and your whānau are coming to our annual Matariki Evening on Thursday (8 July) from 6-8pm?

We have SO much planned for next Thursday - there will be something for everyone.

Our Kapa Haka crew will be opening the evening at 6pm with a performance, and this will be followed by a karakia from Rik Tau.

Our wharekai (eating place) will be in Nga Tai o Mahaanui and you can purchase kai from FUSH, Tow Bar Burgers and we will also have our $2 school sausage sizzle & bacon butties, $1 baked potato and Coffee Vice. Come along and sample the tītī and tuna taster platter too!  So you won't even have to cook dinner that night :)

There will be fun and interactive activities in the gym and student common including origami, colouring, rakau and poi, ta moko, photobooth, harakeke and so much more!  The talented Chris and Mouse will be with us again to share some music - and there may be a chance for children to have a go too!

We also have each of our teams presenting the legend associated with their ALS

Matariki is a time of gathering, ako (learning), whanaungatanga (spending time together) and reflecting.

This is a perfect time to meet others, engage in some of the many arts and craft experiences, listen to our kapa haka group and find out about all the legends that our tamariki have been learning.

Definitely a night not to be missed and we look forward to seeing you there!
