School opening hours

Jared Kelly —

Please have a read through and ensure you know when your child is able to be at school safely

Kia ora e te whānau

Please can you make sure that your child is not at school before 8.30am, and that you pick them up promptly when school finishes each day - don't forget we finish at 2.45pm on a Friday. The only exceptions to this are children enrolled at Kelly Club, and children on the first bus in the morning.

If you need an early drop off or a late pick up - Kelly Club is a really great option. In the mornings you just need to drop your child off dressed and ready for school, and the team at Kelly Club can provide breakfast and entertainment until they head off to class from 8.30am. After school they provide a healthy (and nice!) afternoon tea, and fun activities. They are accredited by WINZ, so you may qualify for a subsidy. Here's the link to make a booking.

Whilst you will see staff at school before 8.30am and after 3.15pm, they are not available to supervise children or have conversations with whānau (unless previously arranged). This is valuable time that we set aside to prepare resources, meet with colleagues, attend professional development and team meetings and get set up and ready for each teaching day.

Here's a reminder of our opening times and school bells:

  • Monday - Friday start of day:

    • 8.30am - school opens to children and whānau

    • 8.55am - the 'get ready' bell goes - this is everyone heads to class

    • 9am - the bell goes, and the roll is taken and daily notices are shared

  • Monday - Thursday end of day:

    • 2.55 - the bus bell goes, and all bus children head to the meeting point

    • 3pm - the bell goes for the end of the school day

    • 3.15pm - all children should have left the school grounds unless they are with their parents or caregivers

  • Friday:

    • 2.40pm - the bus bell goes, and all bus children head to the meeting point

    • 2.45pm - the bell goes for the end of the school day

    • 3pm - all children should have left the school grounds unless they are with their parents or caregivers

Check out the 'make a plan' article we've shared previously and have a chat to your child so they know what to do if you're running late for pick ups.

During school hours our staff are 100% focussed on providing a safe, fun and engaging learning environment for your child. Outside of those times we really need to focus on our wellbeing and ensure that we have the time and space to meet, plan and learn ourselves.

We really appreciate your support with this.

Regards, Jared
