Term 3 In Maungatere & Manga Kawari

Rachel Kelly —

Term 3 is here already. We hope the children all had a relaxing break and are ready to start the next half of the year!

Our ALS welcomes Sophia Paterson who is a student teacher from the University of Canterbury. She is on her final placement and will be working alongside Rachel Kelly for 5 weeks.

We had some amazing results from our end-of-term spelling testing. We were impressed by the way the children had learned and remembered their words from the term. Spelling will begin again on Monday.

Art this term involves 3D art-making. We are looking for 250ml plastic soda bottles to use in art. If the children could please bring as many as they can to school that would be amazing.

Mrs Taylor is planning on doing tie-dying for her science project this term on a Friday. She has asked if the children could bring an old t-shirt or socks or just a piece of material that they could tie-dye. Mrs Taylor's homeroom is starting this week, followed by Sonya's homeroom in week 2 and Todd's and Rachel's in weeks 3 and 4.

Events in the first couple of weeks...

Whānau Hui - Monday 9.15 (All welcome)

Technology starts back for the Year 7s in week 2.

Winter sports continues on a Friday.

Science Academy continues on a Friday.

Cantamaths is Wednesday the 11th August.

Have a fantastic weekend!
