NToM and Taerutu - Wiki Iwa
Kia ora whānau, and welcome to Week Nine of the term.
What a great week of celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori we had in our ALS. The sun also played its part so that we could commence our athletics practice and allow Grace and Sophia to shine at the Canterbury Netball tournament.
It's alway's a sad day when we have to say farewell to a tamaiti in our space, but we wish Charlie and his whānau all the best with their journey back to the UK.
Wiki Iwa Learning: It's time for some fun on our space adventure after all the hard work of sourcing food supplies and rebuilding our shelters. This week tamariki will be tasked with adding some fun and excitement as they let their 'hair down' and enjoy the best their planet has to offer. Our unveiling of our fashion show is getting closer, with groups finalising their designs and working on their runaway presentations. Word on the street is out, as other ALS's are keen to see our 'Trash to Flash' fashion show.
Book Week: We have some awesome events lined up all week, including a session with visiting author James Russell, art displays of book series and of course Book Character Dress Up Day (Tāiti - Thursday). We can't wait to see all the creative dress up's brighten up kura.
Good Luck: I know that many of our tamariki will be feeling excited and nervous as they look towards their massive kapa haka performance this week. I know how hard they have all worked, and we are all so proud of their representation of our kura.
Reminder: Potae are compulsory in term 4, but with the sun starting to warm up our days already, tamariki are more than welcome to wear their awesome green school hats already (especially during lunchtime play and athletics practice).
Have a wonderful weekend whānau,
Ngā mihi nui
