Simon Crawford —

Welcome to Week 4! The weeks are flying by and we are loving being back into our learning post swimming. We had a fantastic time dressing up in pink to support anti bullying. There were some outrageous outfits and that was only the kaiako! Thanks to all those who supported our ice block fundraiser. The Year 5's are looking forward to their camp later on in the year and all the funds raised help make the cost a little less.

We have started our new country studies, and have already leant many new things. Make sure you ask your child to find out what they know!

Well done to our Winter Sports teams. They have successfully played 2 weeks of games and are improving in their skills and showing our awesome Te Kura o Manga Kawari sportsmanship. They are off again on Paraire (Friday) for another round of games.

Wiki Tuawhā (Week 4) mahi

In our MNP sessions this week, the Year 4's have moved onto the new topic of Length, focusing on cm, m and km. The Year 5's are carrying on with Fractions, focusing on mixed and equivalent fractions.

As a whole ALS we started our novel study on the fantastic book 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. We are loving what we have done so far and looking forward to finding out what happens next.

We have all chosen our famous innovators and are well underway in our study of them. This week sees us putting into practice some of the skills and ideas that they have taught us through their innovative and creative ideas and inventions. Our innovators are: Kupe (outrigger design and legendary explorer), Leonardo da Vinci (pretty much everything), Sir David Brewster (light reflection - kaleidoscope) and The Wright Brothers (flight).

We have been studying Narratives in the form of pictures books to help us better understand how Setting, Characters, Problems, Action and Endings, and how these have a powerful impact on the reader, which ākonga will use when creating their own narratives this coming wiki.
