Voting is in process for 5 parent representatives on the school board
Have you voted yet?
This year we have engaged the services of Canterbury Education Services (CES) to carry out an electronic voting election. Most eligible parents would have received voting information via email on Wednesday 10 August.
We have a small number of parents who either didn't have an email account or only had a shared family account - and paper voting forms have been posted to them. Please vote as soon as you can if you will be posting rather than dropping your vote into school. The mail is not delivered every day, and paper votes can only be accepted up until Monday 12 September (providing they are postmarked before 7 September).
What does the board do?
The board is responsible for determining the strategic vision for our kura. When developing our annual plan and charter, the board considers the school’s vision, aims and objectives. The plan details the board’s targets and guides its future decision-making. You can find our 2022 annual plan and charter attached below.
The school board are the governors of the school and the principal is responsible for the management of it:
Governance determines:
- the what - designing the future
- the ends - the outcomes to be achieved
- policies - statements of what is expected
Management determines:
- the how - designing how to get there
- the means - strategies to achieve the ends
- procedures - steps to meet expectations
(e.g. the board has determined the expectations for achievement for 2022, and the principal sets the programmes and strategies in place to ensure these expectations are met)
We are lucky to have 8 strong candidates for our election! Thank you to Anna, Daryl, Greg, Joseph, Libby, Mat, Megan and Rebecca for stepping forward to offer your time and energy to our school board.
Their nominee bios are attached below for your information.
Best regards
Micky Brosnan, Returning Officer
