Notices for week 9 in MK & Maungatere
A huge thank you to Activated Carbon NZ for your support with our Senior Science programme this term!
Thanks to Activated Carbon NZ, our tamariki are experiencing innovative science. ACNZ is a small and highly innovative carbon-producing pioneer company, which recently gifted $400 worth of carbon to allow our Kura to learn the importance of filtration, and more importantly, the best ways to remove toxins and other impurities from our water.
Being exclusively New Zealand-owned, they are the only company in New Zealand producing activated carbon from the significant and abundant bi-products and waste produced by the forestry, logging, and milling industries. This links to our Sustainable Development Goals, something we are keen on teaching to all of our tamariki.
The SDGs are universal goals for all people and are inherently global in nature. Learning about these initiatives helps students develop insights into critical issues around the world, such as lack of access to clean water.
Year 7s have tech on Tuesday - can they please be at school by 8.45am.
Science Academy - Friday 1pm. Please bring your bike and helmet.
Year 7s have a bake sale on Wednesday the 6th of April in week 10! Year 7s please bring a tray of baking to sell on this day. Year 6s you just need to bring gold coins to buy yummy treats! Each class will be given a time slot to come over to buy our baking. All the money raised will go towards the Year 7 students camp to Wainui. Please note we will evenly divide the money raised between the Year 7 students who participate in the fundraiser. Thank you for your support with this!
