Coming Together: A Fortnight of Community, Generosity, and Support
What an eventful two weeks it has been! Our whānau and community BBQ, along with the swimming sports, provided wonderful opportunities for us to come together as a school whānau.
The karaoke at the BBQ was a definite highlight, with many stepping up to showcase their talents for the first time. Laughter, music, and good company made for a fabulous evening.
A particularly touching moment came when a CCR taxi driver who attended shared his experience. He said that each morning, watching how warmly and enthusiastically students are welcomed by staff is the highlight of his day.
What a beautiful reminder of how the kindness and energy within our school community extends far beyond the classroom! The neighbours who attended were very thankful to be considered part of our community and to spend some time with the students they see coming and going during the day.
The spirit of generosity was also felt at the swimming sports. A student from the St Andrew’s College Prefect group (who were helping our students and will do so again at other sporting events during the year) mentioned that he had been considering studying law or psychology next year, but after such an enjoyable time with our young people, he is now also considering teaching. Moments like these show the positive impact our students have on those around them.
I also left with three bags filled with donations from St Andrew’s College parents for our PTA Easter raffle. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness and support. It has been a truly special fortnight, filled with connection, kindness, and shared experiences. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who continues to support and strengthen our school community!
