Learning through play is a wonderfully engaging way for children to explore and discover the world around them. And what better way to spark their creativity than through the power of painting? In our Pūtahi Juniors group, we have been delving into the exciting world of art and connecting it to our beloved Elmer topic.

Painting allows children to express their thoughts, emotions, and imagination in a colorful and vibrant way. It encourages them to experiment with different shapes, lines, and colours, helping to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. But it doesn't stop there!

Through painting, our little artists not only learn about colours and textures but also engage in storytelling. They create their own narratives and bring their ideas to life on the canvas. And with our Elmer theme, the possibilities have been endless!

Our students have been using painting techniques to recreate the patchwork elephant's colourful world. They have explored mixing primary colors to create secondary colours, just like Elmer's unique and vibrant body. They've experimented with different brush strokes.

But the most magical part of this process is the connection they feel with Elmer. Through painting, they have truly stepped into his shoes and experienced the joy of being different. They have discovered that, just like Elmer, every individual is unique and special in their own way.

Not only has painting been a fun and creative adventure for our Pūtahi Juniors, but it has also served as a powerful teaching tool. It has helped develop their observation skills, as they carefully examine the details of Elmer's patchwork patterns. It has sparked discussions about diversity, acceptance, and kindness, as we embrace the message of the beloved elephant.

So, as our young artists continue to explore the world of painting, we are thrilled to witness the joy and enthusiasm in their eyes. Learning through play truly does ignite a love for learning and creates lasting memories. And with Elmer by our side, we are reminded that embracing diversity and expressing ourselves through art is a beautiful way to celebrate who we are.

Together, let's continue to paint, create, and learn, as we embark on this colorful journey with our beloved Elmer.
