Tētēkura joined in with the Phillipstown Community Hub Gala.

Rebekah Carlsen —

During the first Saturday of the school holidays staff and some students volunteered to join in with the Phillipstown Community Hub.

The students who volunteered from Pitau-Allenvale were Angus and Pamoana alongside 4 Ferndale students.

We had two stalls: one making coffees and the other selling baking, soaps and candles. Students were involved in making coffees as well as selling items. There were a lot of different stalls selling food and crafts. Community groups were showcasing what they did and there were plenty of fun activities to watch or get involved in.

We have slowly been getting more in touch with the Phillipstown Community Hub and what is happening there. Students have been involved in making insect houses, making paper and pizzas.

It was great to see our students having the confidence to volunteer and help out. The coffee stall was a huge success and busy the entire time. We were loaned an industrial coffee machine and had coffee donated from Vivace just around the corner.

Students who volunteered will be rewarded for their hard work by going to see a movie and have lunch, having volunteered their time.

We look forward to participating in the gala next year.
