Our Allenvale Basketball team attended a Special Olympic Basketball tournament in Nelson and School Exchange with Waimea College.

Ed Book (Coach), Linda King (Manager) and Dorota Ratka (Assistant Manager) were full of praise for our wonderful students who proved not only to be great basketballers but also wonderful ambassadors for our school.

The long trip proved worthwhile when our players were awarded two 1st place Certificates for their fine efforts. Wiremu Manahi did a great job when he read the Players Oath at the commencement of the tournament.  Amy Verdellen was the Player of the Day with her consistent play and aggressive defense.  

In addition to the tournament experience we had a school exchange with Waimea College.  Our students had a great time making new friends and connections with the Waimea players.  They also got to enjoy a number of social and learning experiences such as jumping into the foam pit at Flip Out, lunch and games at Tahunanui Beach, then back to Waimea College to see where they do their learning!
