Fantastic Fun at Foster Park

Aimee Blackler —

Foster Park is one of Room 11's favourite places to experience some Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC)!

EOTC is a great way for our students to develop reflective and inquisitive thinking along with problem-solving approaches in ‘real’ situations. EOTC also assists gross and fine-motor development and helps our students to develop self-awareness, confidence, and self-esteem.

At Allenvale we are extremely lucky that we get to experience EOTC so often- especially with being able to use one of the school vans to go on a weekly class outing!

One of Room 11's favourite places to go is Foster Park which is out in Rolleston. There is so much to do there, from zipping down the flying fox to zooming down the giant 4m slide. These two pieces of equipment are definitely crowd-pleasers alongside the swings, climbing frame, and mouse wheel.

The real highlight of these outings is seeing our students interacting with other members of the community and stepping out of their comfort zones!
