Fun at Christchurch School of Gymnastics

Katie Hammond —

This term a small group of our students have had the opportunity to explore and play at the Christchurch School of Gymnastics (CSG) next door to Taiora QEII.

Both students and staff have been loving our weekly session of Gymnastics at Christchurch School of Gymnastics (CSG). Our students have made amazing progress in lots of different areas during these sessions!

Big thanks to Sian, our dedicated gymnastics coach from CSG who has really helped our students develop their skills and also provided guidance for our staff. And of course thanks to all our amazing Pitāu-Allenvale staff that have come along, supported our students and joined in the fun!

CSG has provided the perfect safe location for our students who love to explore how to move their bodies in different ways and feel confident to push themselves, developing their physical skills.

Gymnastics sessions haven’t just worked on students’ physical skills like running, jumping, swinging and hanging, we have also seen students increase in levels of interaction, turn taking, confidence, communication and new friendships developing.

We have been lucky enough to secure resourcing for this programme to continue into 2024, so we look forward to seeing all the amazing things our students will achieve next year!

Christchurch School of Gymnastics does offer 1:1 sessions for neurodiverse learners, if this sounds like something your whanau would like to explore please contact their admin team for further information.
