What's on top in Te Tauihu!

Jacob Appo —

In our hub these last two weeks we have had a whole range of fun activities and learning experiences for our students to enjoy.

This week for cooking we made cheese rolls! It was a smash hit for sure. Our students began with watching videos and looking up the recipes in our classrooms, afterwards we assembled and checked we had all of our ingredients before cooking our cheese rolls. Of course the best part came at the end when our students got their have their cheese rolls at lunch time.

We also made cat face art to match our book for the week called "Oi Cat!" We have to use a variety of matching, stamping, cutting, gluing and other fine motor skills to assemble our cat portraits.

We practiced our core word for week 3 by using it in everyday life and relevant contexts to our learners. This looks like taking turns to choose a song or book to read, or playing games in pairs or larger groups such as snakes and ladders, connect four and pop the pirate. All the while we used our voices, communication devices and signs to indicate "your turn'' and "my turn".

It's great to learn, play and explore, each day we are building on our routines and knowledge, developing new skills and communicating about ourselves. We look forward to sharing our continued learning journey with you throughout the term!
