Te Tauihu Highlights
Students in Te Tauihu have been thriving over the past few weeks, engaging in exciting activities like literacy challenges, community outings, and hands-on cooking sessions.
The past few weeks in Hub 5 have been full of exciting learning and activities. We’ve settled into our routines and have been making great progress across all areas.
In literacy, we’ve been focusing on predictable chart writing, shared reading, and our core word of the week. Predictable chart writing has been a fun and creative way to build confidence with using the coreboard, while shared reading has kept everyone engaged as we explore stories together.
In numeracy, we’ve been working on subitising, which is the ability to quickly recognise the number of objects in a group without needing to count them individually. This foundational skill has been developing well, and it’s great to see the students enjoying the activities and making progress.
Cooking has been a highlight, with students working together to prepare and enjoy some delicious treats. It’s been wonderful to see teamwork and independence grow during these sessions.
We’ve also been enjoying joint assemblies with Rauawa Hub, where the students have had opportunities to come together and celebrate our collective efforts. We’re especially proud of our certificate winners who have worked hard to earn recognition for their achievements.
Our community outings have been a big hit as well. We’ve visited Big Fun Gym, where students love using the equipment and practising gross motor skills, as well as exploring local cafes, playgrounds, and swimming pools. These outings provide fantastic opportunities for real-world learning and social interaction.
It’s been amazing to see the enthusiasm and engagement from everyone in Hub 5!
