Special Olympic Athletics Certificate Day
Success for Allenvale students at the Special Olympic Athletics event at Nga Puna Wai Sports Complex.
The rain stayed away for our students to shine at the Athletics Certificate Day. We started the day by setting up our 2 new fantastic Allenvale School branded gazebo's to give us protection from the weather. All the students had a chance to be a part of the March Past the Grandstand as everyone cheered for them.
The day started off with the 200m running race and the standing long jump for our athletes competing against 10 other schools that attended the day. Our students did their best in other events like, shot put, running long jump, wheelchair races, 50m walk, softball throw and everyone's favourite the 100m sprints. It was a very tiring day for both athletes and staff and it was all worth it to watch the final event of the day, 4 x 100m relay running race where the Allenvale team of Amy Verdellen, Connor Dawson, Caleb Stenton-Whiteside and Riley Woodham won 1st place.
A special thank you to the Avonside Girls and the Shirley boys who came along to help on the day. Finally a big thank you to all the whanau and friends who came along to support our athletes.
