Strong start for Hoiho.

‘Poipoia te Kākano kia Puāwai’ Nurture the seed and it will blossom.

Kia ora whānau,

Isn’t it hard to believe that we are already in the sixth week of the term!

The Hoiho class has made a strong start, enjoying opportunities to get to know one another and adapt to our new routines. Some students have had the chance to try new activities like horse riding and gymnastics, while others have been swimming and working with Richard to create small woodwork project. The latter has allowed students to use a range of basic tools and work towards developing some functional skills.

Pītau Allenvale's values of kindness, well-being, resilience, and uniqueness are emphasized throughout the day. As a result, we have seen many students bravely ‘give it a go,’ which was especially evident during our recent swimming sports.

This term, our class focus has been on ‘About Me’. This has provided students with the opportunity to access and share details about themselves, either verbally or via their communication devices. We have also begun a big emphasis on literacy and numeracy, and are already seeing some pleasing results.

Well done Hoiho.
