In the Zone for Bowling

Jo Sturgeon —

Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) is a favourite feature of our weekly timetable.

Being able to access specialised transport and get out in the community for EOTC is one of the things we really look forward to each week.

Trips out can enhance learning and experiences around Topic, provide destinations  we might not usually visit and give us opportunities for class fun.

Recently, Room 15 students and staff had a great morning launching bowling balls down the alleys at Zone Bowling in Christchurch. Just walking in the door and seeing the neon lights, enjoying different sounds and watching our student's faces as they took it all in was great.

But the real fun was in pushing brightly coloured balls down the ramps and toppling the pins at the end of the alley. Staff were fantastic at facilitating first time bowlers and it was great to see students gain in confidence with each turn. We loved encouraging each other and as the venue filled up we enjoyed interacting with the lovely people around us.

It was a great morning and super experience for all. EOTC gives us a chance to make fun plans together.
