Mauri tū, mauri ora - An active soul is a healthy soul

Caryn Marnewick —

Ora is our second value and has been the focus of Team Kea this term. Ora is keeping our bodies healthy, fit and active.

This term we have been building our students' understanding of healthy living. We have discussed eating healthy foods, drinking water, regularly participating in exercise/sport, creating healthy sleep habits as well as practicing positive mental health practices such as mindfulness.

As a class, we have also had many great opportunities to participate in a variety of physical activities throughout the term. We have enjoyed football, cross country, movement room, community walks, bikes, heavy work activities, Special Olympic Sport skill sessions, game activity sessions at Avonside Girls and some have participated in the school basketball team training.

A huge thank you to Ed Book, Paula Windsor (Special Olympics Canterbury coordinator), and the Staff and Student Team at Avonside Girls for all the fun sessions and for helping us to stay healthy and active!
