Unlocking Connections- Building Strong Relationships with Students

Gregg Smith —

Establishing positive relationships with new students and schools is essential for building connections.

Term One is all about connecting with our students and schools. Many of our students have had changes of classes and teachers and we at Outreach are often the only link from the old to the new. Nurturing those strong relationships with our students is the key to continuing that positive and supportive learning environment for them.

For our new students it's about understanding their unique background, interests, and strengths so we can start to build a relationship. This helps us tailor our teaching approach to cater to their individual needs.

Building relationships takes time, so persistence is the key to our approach. The more we get to know the student, the stronger the bond is that we form with them. This encourages more motivation and engagement in their learning journey. Some of our students have been with us for 3 or more years and we are in the unique position of having invested that time and energy to create a supportive network that benefits them.
