The Place Where You Belong

Kia ora e te whānau,

It’s been a real privilege to see our staff reconnect with students and to have the chance to meet some of you over the past week. One thing that stands out to me is how dedicated our team is to the children and young people they support. I’ve also been struck by the trust and gratitude from whānau—you tell me that you know that Pītau Allenvale staff genuinely care and have your child’s best interests at heart.

This week, we had a medical event. While these moments are never easy, our staff responded quickly with first aid, and everything turned out as well as possible. A huge thank you to everyone involved for your calm and caring approach.

It was lovely to connect with families at the Pītau Uru Open Day, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming PTA BBQ. I also know that not everyone can make it to these kinds of events—our school community is unique, and because many students arrive by taxi, we don’t get to see as many parents as some other schools might. But please know that you are always welcome here, and I look forward to finding other ways to connect as the year goes on.  Bev Wall is always ready to support you as our whānau connector. Bev can be contacted via our school office on (03) 351 6743.

One of my favourite parts of the day is being at the gate in the mornings, watching students settle in. Some were a little anxious at first, but as routines and faces become familiar, their confidence is growing—which is amazing to see.

Pītau Allenvale has such a strong reputation in the wider community, built on professionalism, expertise, and aroha. I feel lucky to be part of this team and look forward to contributing in a meaningful way.
