Getting active with Uru!

Uru ākonga enjoy two outings at Base school to participate in PMP and kia kori during the school week.

At Uru we understand how important it is to be regulated in order to learn! Students take turns to partake in two of our movement based outings during the week.

Kia kori works on fundamental skills as well as working together as a team. We love seeing new friendships blossom as students engage in ball skills, obstacle courses and balancing activities. Our students favourite part is the music on the speaker while they move around the Manawa space.

PMP works on physical motor skills. Students engage in a fun circuit which incorporates balance, coordination, running, crashing, jumping, and upper body strength. Students are familiar with the routine and are comfortable at attempting all the challenges.

Once students return to Uru they are ready for some kai and quiet activities in the hub. Outing opportunities like these are truly valuable to break up the day and make learning sessions lots more meaningful for our students.
