Occupational Therapist
We are looking for an exceptional Occupational Language Therapist to join our team. If you are passionate about specialist education with ORS funded students, we would love to hear from you. Therapists who join our team develop students strengths, value diverse cultural backgrounds and are committed to positive behaviour support. and require a Occupational Therapist who can bring a positive team approach to our vision. The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Kaiārahi i te Reo and Therapists’ Collective Agreement June 2022 to December 2024 (agreed revision effective 13 March 2024). The base salary for trained and registered therapists will range from $75,800 to $112,442, depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
To be successful you will need:
A current practising certificate and membership with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand
Recent experience working as an Occupational Therapist with young people with complex needs
An appreciation of the need to customise interventions to suit the varying needs of our students
An ability to work as part of a young person’s wider team including external agencies
Ability to demonstrate knowledge around working within a transdisciplinary model
To be familiar with the Ministry of Education Specialist Services Standards (2015)
An ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information
An ability to work effectively as a part of a team with other specialists, teaching staff and managers
Excellent problem solving , time management, priorisation and interpersonal skills for managing a challenging practice environment and caseload
An ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings
Knowledge and skills with transport harnesses and other safety equipment or ability to immediately upskill.
Experience working with people requiring co-regulation and behaviour support
Skills and knowledge in the area of access to technologies, including communication assistive technology
To have, or gain, Enable accreditation for personal cares and household management
The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
