How Outreach teachers support student transitions
It has been busy in Outreach this term with teachers reporting on student progress and achievement.
Progress takes many forms and may involve increasing participation, independence and self management. The photos below highlight some examples of how this may look for our students.
All teachers have been involved in supporting student visits and transitions to their next classes for 2025. Constructing 'All About Me’ information with student voice has been an important part of this process so that the next teachers gain an understanding of the student, their strengths and progress.
Photo transition stories have been a vital part of this work too; they help support the student’s understanding of change when they return to school next term.
A number of students are moving on to new schools to begin their Intermediate years; others are going to High Schools.
To those who are now leaving our service, we wish you every success and happiness with exciting opportunities ahead. It has been a pleasure to work with you, to see you develop your interests and be a part of your learning.
We end the year having worked with 33 students on our Outreach roll, over 20 schools across the primary and high school sectors.
We look forward to seeing many of our students again next year and working closely with our schools and whānau.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
