Hiwi students are active participants in our learning environment. They get involved in activities that regulate them. The activities you see in the pictures are perfect opportunities to encourage our students communication.
In Hiwi hub we use all learning experiences to help students with their communication. We do this by getting involved with the learning alongside the students and modelling different communication pathways they can use to have their wants and needs met. Communication is one of our hubs main focus of the school day.
In the photos below you can see staff and students enjoying time together and communicating using a range of tools. We model the coreword of the week in various ways and use NZ sign, communication devices and lanyard visuals to continue communicating with students from the beginning till the end of the school day.
We love seeing such positive experiences of communication in our hub and are delighted that our students have a various range of school activities to practice their communication skills. Look at all those smiles!
