Boo Boo! I'm not afraid of you!

Bringing Books and Imaginations to Life

There is nothing like sharing, experiencing and participating in a story to enhance the literacy experience!

The Specialist Services Team adapted and created a living version of "The Little Old Lady Who was not Afraid of Anything" by Linda Williams.

The story was adapted by our team for our Tamariki to support access to the text and a deeper understanding of the story.

The experience started days prior to this event and included classes reading an SLT adapted version of the story in hard copy. We have attached a copy here for you. The story has key words highlighted to help with AAC modeling. Students could also watch the story retold and animated by StoryTime Out Loud.

Yesterday, students from several learning hubs joined in the fun. We also extended an invitation to Belfast School and some of their students came over to share the experience.

The Tamariki involved themselves in the story through touch, sight, sound, smell, movement and imagination.

Watch this space for more exciting learning opportunities like this in our kura!
