The safety of students is of paramount importance. Therefore, it is essential that we are informed of absences or unexpected lateness beforehand.

If your child is sick or otherwise not attending school for some reason

1.Please phone and leave an absence by  leaving your child’s name, room number, brief reason for the absence and usual bus route or text 027 368 1661. Please make sure you leave a reason as this determines what we record their absence as.

2.If number 1 is not possible, sending a message with a brother or sister is perfectly acceptable.

3. If neither of the above is possible, maybe a neighbour or friend’s child may be able to bring a message.

4. By 9.30am each class has reported its unexplained absences to the School Office. Penny  then makes every effort to find out if the child is safely at home. This is where an alternative phone number of a friend or relative is useful for us to have.

If you are planning a family holiday during school term please email reception@pointprimary.school.nz and inform us. This will then get passed onto the Principal who will make contact with you.

Contacting parents take a lot of time and we ask that parents take the initiative and advise us of their child’s absence.
