2022 Kāhui Ako (Community of Learning)
Friday the 3rd of June, kaiako from around the Timaru region came together to participate in a Strengthening Our Community Teacher Only Day. During the day we discussed the Curriculum refresh that is currently taking place, engaging in selected workshops, launching the Kāhui Ako Digital Technology Coherent Pathways Framework and listening to guest speakers.
The Keynote speaker for the day was Gary Endacott. Gary works for the Ministry of Education, where his portfolio is working with children with disabilities and helping to place them in schools and workplaces. He is the Vice Captain of the New Zealand Disabled Rugby League team and has achieved many inspirational feats in his life.
It was lovely coming together as a community of educators and having an opportunity to network with different kaiako.
