Team Māhuri students love learning!

Joanne Williams —

All of the students in Years 0 - 4 (Team Māhuri) have had a busy start to Term 2.

We were very lucky to have Megan from the St John in Schools programme come and take all of our classes for a lesson in 'Responding to an Emergency and Keeping Safe'.  All classes really enjoyed their session with Megan and had a lot of fun working on their bandaging skills.

Training for our Cross Country next week is well underway and it is wonderful seeing our kids out there trying their best and giving it a go.  Further information, with more details, will come home next week.  We look forward to seeing you next Friday afternoon.

Mr Robb and his Year 3 and 4 Jump Jam team have been working hard at learning their routine.  Well done to all of the students that are involved - keep practicing at home!

Next week, we will move onto our new Science topic about Water.  Some classes are looking at the water cycle, some are looking at water pollution, some are looking at rivers, and some are looking at water creatures.  We are sure you will hear lots about what we are learning in class.

Teachers and students have also been working hard in Reading, Writing, Maths and Spelling.  We are really pleased with the engagement of our students.  We love to see them really focussing in teaching sessions, and then applying themselves to transfer that new knowledge to any supporting work the teacher may ask them to complete.  Some students do struggle to follow along with the teacher during teaching sessions, or just need extra support and reassurance.  Keep reminding them at home to ask questions, or tell the teacher if they don't quite understand something - YET!  We love it when our students are brave enough to tell us this.  Supporting students to achieve success is our job.

As always, thank you for your support at home.
