Introducing....... Lorraine Frances-Rees

Kia ora,

My name is Lorraine Frances-Rees and from the start of term 2, I will be your principal at Pleasant Point Primary.

I live in Timaru with my husband Tim. We have two sons, Antonio (21) and Daniel (20). Daniel is apprenticed to my husband who is a builder and Antonio is studying Sports Coaching. We have two dogs and two cats.

I love music, nature, and art. I do a bit of painting when I have time and play a variety of musical instruments. I have been a keen sportsperson in my time playing hockey, netball and tennis. I rowed in 8's at university and surfboat rowed when I lived in Australia where I was also a lifesaver. I still enjoy swimming (slowly).

I was born in Birmingham in England and was schooled there, going to Oxford University where I studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics. I have a Masters degree in Education and postgraduate papers in educational leadership.

I came to Australia in my early 20s where I met my husband, Tim and when we married we moved to a small holding in Orari. I studied to become a teacher in New Zealand and prior to being a teacher I worked mainly in corporate environments in London and Sydney.

I have been a principal for 10 years in total and I am really looking forward to joining your school community and getting to know everybody.

Ngā mihi nui
