Year 5/6 Camp

Team Puāwai (Year 5 and 6) go on camp in Term 1 each year. In addition to the classroom teachers, we invite parent helpers to join us. The cost of the camps over the last several years has been between $95 and $120.

In odd years, we go to Raincliff Camp. Highlights of the camp involve a visit to the Te Ana Rock Art site, the confidence course, and activities based on the local area’s history and culture. This camp is three days and two nights. We usually leave school on Wednesday morning, and return on Friday afternoon. Most students stay in bunk rooms, with some in tents, depending on student numbers.

In even years, we travel to Methven and stay at Mount Hutt Retreat. The highlights of this camp include abseiling, archery and an amazing water slide.

Both camps provide excellent opportunities for students to get to know each other and for teachers to gain a different perspective on their students. Camps definitely stand out as a highlight of the year!
