Certifying Plumbers can enrol as a Certification Authority

Next week the Board becomes the regulator of the new self-contained vehicles system.

From 7 December, the Board will be able to accept applications from people and organisations wanting to become ‘Certification Authorities’. Until 6 June 2025, Certifying Plumbers will be deemed to be Certification Authorities (and Vehicle Inspectors). If you are a Certifying Plumber wanting to carry out work as a Certification Authority, you will need to comply with the new requirements and enrol with the Board to gain access to the register before undertaking work as a Certification Authority.

How to apply

Application and enrolment forms, together with guidance documents, will be available on the Board’s website from 7 December.

If you are wanting to undertake vehicle inspections for Certification Authorities (i.e. work as a Vehicle Inspector), you will need to contact a Certification Authority as they become appointed by the Board.
