New supervision location check at relicensing
Update on change to licensing renewal process
Ahead of the new licensing year starting 1 April, the Board has made a change to its licensing renewal process. This article follows up on the comms we have sent out to all practitioners over the last couple of weeks.
What's new
The Board has introduced a new supervision check within the licence renewal process, where the system will automatically check the location of a nominated supervisor against the location of the supervisee.
If the supervisor is in a different region to the supervisee, the supervisee's licence will not go active until we can confirm that adequate supervision is being provided by the supervisor. If this is the case, we will contact you within five working days.
Information the Board may need to see
The types of information we may request to complete our assessment include:
the number of supervisees you are supervising – please provide an organisational chart if this is available
a written supervision agreement (if any of your supervisees are not employees)
how you record the work done by your supervisees
the process of how you decide what level of supervision was appropriate for each job (these may be part of the records of the work)
records of assessments you carried out of your supervisees’ abilities (formal and informal)
records of the training you have provided to your supervisees
process for remote supervision if applicable.
Why is this happening?
This was introduced to ensure that the Board has confidence around supervision arrangements and that adequate supervision is being provided. It does not automatically mean that you will not be able to supervise. The Board will contact you to discuss your supervision arrangements.
