Welcome to 2022

The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board —

Chief Executive update

Kia ora koutou,

I hope you all had a lovely holiday break and are recharged for 2022.

Reflecting on the past two years, no one would have imagined in February 2020 that two years later we would still be combatting the pandemic just emerging then. The early indications are that 2022 is going to continue to be another challenging year.

Construction industries across Aotearoa have been hit hard and the need to stay resilient and strong remains an ongoing challenge. We have information in this update about what operating in 'red' may look like for you and options to continue working.

Mental health and wellbeing can impact the work you carry out. Family, finances, work, and health pressures can become distractions.  Sadly, mental health continues to be a worrying issue within the construction sector, and the stresses created by COVID-19 may only add to those issues.  We encourage you to look after each other and if you or someone you know needs help to see a health practitioner.

We are looking forward to World Plumbing Day on 11 March 2022 which is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the industry and the contribution plumbing makes to civilisation and the planet. Join us in celebrating!

Stay safe and work safely.

Ngā mihi
